WHAT DOES THE MPD K9 UNIT DO?

The Milwaukee Police K9 Unit has been serving the citizens of Milwaukee since 2007. The unit currently has nine  K9 teams. The K9s are German Shepherds from Germany and are trained for suspect apprehension, drugs and firearm detection. We have two K9’s who are certified in explosive detection.   Purchasing and training these K9s is costly. All dogs live at home with their handler and family.
